I'm really kind of embarrassed at Newgrounders right now. Instead of doing the simple fixes offered in the FAQ, you guys feel the need to offer up scathing reviews because you're too lazy to fix the problem. This game is great (although it did take some effort to get working). Once I got things working, it was great, but I feel like the timing for countering the gun is a little unintuitive (it's when you hear the shot go off, not when you see your opponent grab the gun) and obviously the keyboard layout is a little strange, though you do get used to that. Great job, guys!

3D-xelu responds:

Hey there, yeah that bug is annoying and we hope to fix it in the following days. As for the gun counter timing , yeah we got that complain from beta testers as well and we're going to improve it in the next patch along with some other blannace fixes. Thanks again for the suggestion and see you in a match!

Not too shabby

My major complaint is definitely the lack of sound, but overally the game wasn't bad. The controls took some getting used to, but once I "got it," its actually a pretty effective setup.

The invisible guys are a pain in the ass, though.

JoSilver responds:

Glad you liked it.

I wanted the ninjas to be like "HOLY THERES A NINJA OUTTA NOWHERE" I guess I accomplished that.

Sweet

While it hurts to acknowledge the fact that my competition did something of value, this is so damned good I can't help but congratulate you. Excellent work!

thinking-man responds:

thanks man! I'll probably play your game next.

Too many Riddler puzzles

You know why the Batman villain The Riddler bugged me? Because, while there was a "correct" answer to his puzzles that remotely followed some trail of clues, the clues in themselves were not self-evident to anyone (other than Batman, somehow). This game suffers from the same problem; when you know the answer already, it kind of makes sense how the clue hints at it, but most of the time the clues don't help to find the answer and I have to use both of my hints, which make me feel stupid, because the girl practically gives you the answer instead of a better clue, as if it was obvious. The riddles were (usually) pretty good, so I'd focus more on those next time. Graphics, music, etc were all great, it was just the puzzles that bugged me.

(Spoilers ahead)

Of most note was the damned cell phone puzzle. How the hell was I supposed to know not only that the answer wasn't the name of an object (as was implied by the ransom note), but also to hit each button multiple times to come up with the number?

FuNaNdMoRe responds:

I know I may not be a good puzzle maker but inventing puzzles can usually be pretty difficult, since everyone has a different way of thinking and doing. I tried my best on figuring out how people will solve the puzzles or what hints I should include. Anyway, you're right about riddler puzzles, I will decrease their number in the following book (maybe).

About the puzzle. The cellphone was practically the "important tool", as it said in the title, of how to uncover the secret. The "second piece of paper" also said: "FUNNY --> #" which meant to convert FUNNY into a number. You could type in just "3" since the keypad number of a cellphone would be 3 which included the letter "F" but since F is in the third position before D and E, you had to type three times the keypad number 3, as you would do with your cellphone when writing a short message.

What.

While the game's pretty good for something done in 20 minutes, that doesn't mean it should be here. The gameplay gets old within roughly fifteen seconds, and the change in difficulty doesn't make it any better. I recommend making a game that has a deeper strategy than "move the mouse in circles really fast".

youngzoro responds:

I'm making it better, i am making more death balls go in circle, but doing this might make R U CRAZY EXTREMELY hard. I'll release it when I'm done...

What the hell?

This is hands down the most useless thin I've seen on the portal. The background is horrid, the music gets old really quick, and the coding itself is simple enough that I could do it blindfolded. The portal doesn't need a random number generator; there are plenty of websites out there dedicated to finding random numbers; all you need to do is search Google.

Kevin responds:

It's better than the single flash you've made.

So-so

Hey, you know what I hate? Waiting. I'd prefer some alternate way of getting the misc. items than waiting for around 15 minutes.

That aside, this isn't bad for a dress up. The graphics are nice and polished, the "clothes" snap into place so I don't have to line them up myself (although every once in a while I do enjoy doing something like putting a machine gun on somebody's crotch), and the miscellaneous items were fun (when I finally got them). The music was annoying, but there was a mute button, so that wasn't much of a problem. The main problem with this is the fact that it's still a dress up, and dress ups just don't hold my interest for long. There's no score, no enemies to beat, and no puzzles to solve. Although interactive, dress ups lack key elements that make up a "real game." Still, I see that you've got potential; I'd like to see some of your future work.

I'm tired of all these bullshit sponsored games on the portal now. Newgrounds was NOT designed so that you could promote your sucky little jigsaw puzzle site with a crappy game, it was designed as a place that flash artists and programmers could share their work with the world. If you're so desperate to promote your fucking site, buy an advertisement or something. Asshole.

Oh, and the game was a rip off of pretty much every jigsaw puzzle game I've ever seen, that is, it sucked.

JigsawPuzzlesFree responds:

Thanks for your kind words.

A very good game.

I enjoyed this game a lot, but for a rock out game, I would have expected a better sound quality. Overall, I'd say this is definitely one of the top 1 of the rock out games I've seen.

brokenjoe responds:

I tried to get a good balance of file size and sound quality. My computer is kind of slow so the game runs real slow at higher file sizes and I don't wnat no body out there not being able to play the game.
